Swift chose to call the administration of US President Donald Trump to take the prize.
"Thanks to the audience. Voting for this video means you want a world where we will all be legally treated equally. There was a petition in this video and there is still a petition to fight for equality. Simply, we all deserve legally equal rights and I wish thank everyone who signed that petition because now there are half a million signatures which is five times more than it takes to get a response from the White House. I am grateful to everyone who was in my video. They all live their lives so authentically. Thank you all, I love you, ”said Swift, who otherwise strongly supports LGBTIQ people and fights for their rights.
This is not the first time the singer has openly called out Trump and the White House, nor is she the only one to do so at the MMA Awards. The French Montana rapper and actress Alison Brie provided support to the migrants.
The White House has been contacted by the US media to get a response to the singer's calls, but the Trump administration has yet to respond.
